Course Description Fundamentals of weed biology, ecology, and management. Emphasis placed on basic principles that are relevant to both crop and non-crop ecosystems; specific management strategies used in these different ecosystems are introduced.
Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, each of you should: 

  • appreciate weeds from a plant science perspective,
  • know how to identify plant families and weed species,
  • understand basic weed control strategies,
  • be versed with the chemistry, physiology, and use of herbicides,
  • be familiar with weed management strategies used in diverse crop/non-crop systems
Prerequisites CPSC 112 or HORT100 or IB103
Requirement(s) Fulfilled Elective or required course (depending on concentration) for Major in Crop Sciences.
