Field presentationResearch Emphasis

I am currently conducting research on influence of production practices on weed seedbanks, spefically giant ragweed, horseweed, chickweed, and henbit. My previous research has examined waterhemp population dynamics in corn, specifically the influence of tillage on seedbank behavior (emergence, persistence, distribution) and the effect of emergence date on waterhemp survival, competitiveness, and seed production in corn. I have also been involved in a project assessing the distribution of common milkweed across Iowa to determine whether changes in weed management practices are influencing the prevalence of milkweed in agronomic fields.

Background

I am originally from a grain and livestock farm in northwest Iowa. I completed my B.S. at Iowa State University in May 2001 in Agronomy and my M.S. also at Iowa State in May 2003 in Crop Production and Physiology under Dr. Robert Hartzler.
